The Army Museum of Tasmania is periodically looking for volunteers and can offer a variety of work options in the museum as outlined below,
- Cataloguing and Collection Identification and provenance
- Conservation and maintenance
- Display Preparation & Maintenance
- Preparation of Educational Materials
- Photography
- Publishing
- Research
- Restoration & Repair
- Tour Guide
- Training & Development
Currently our volunteer staff include veterans, retired trades people, a dentist, police officers, paramedics, engineers, nurses to name but a few of their previous occupations. Neither age or lack of previous military experience is a barrier to becoming a museum volunteer. We are looking for people who can provide hours on any day of the week (by arrangement) and work in a team.
The Museum also provides training opportunities that may include inter and intra state travel to enhance specific museum related skills. A uniform is also provided.
Prospective volunteers will be required to have Police Checks.
